Coming Monday, January 20, 2020 – Take the Flight Attendant Negotiations Survey – We are Listening!
Our AFA Negotiating Committee is gearing up for our Contract 2021 Negotiations! We are conducting a survey of more than 25,000 United Flight Attendants.
Our Negotiating Committee wants to know what you think, what you care about, and what concerns you may have, as we move forward in preparation for our next Contract. Your voice matters and we are listening to you! Your participation in this survey is critical to our success in representing your interests at the bargaining table. The survey provides all Members with an equal opportunity to communicate their priorities and needs regarding our Contract 2021. You are the voice of these negotiations. This is your chance to get involved and be a part of our Contract Negotiations.
The Flight Attendant Negotiations Survey was developed with the assistance of outside professionals to insure a statistically valid result. Our Negotiating Committee has retained professional pollsters and the services of the University of New Hampshire survey center, who will administer the survey and work with the Committee to analyze the results.
Flight Attendants will receive the Flight Attendant Negotiations Survey to their mailing address of record. Once you have received the survey, you will have the opportunity to participate electronically through our new negotiations website, contract2021.org. Take part in the survey and encourage your fellow Flight Attendants to do the same. The survey opens January 20, 2020, 0800 CT closing March 6, 2020, 1600 CT and will run in conjunction with our Negotiating Committee’s Listening Tour.
Taking the survey is an easy process, visit contract 2021.org, click the survey image and answer the questions, then submit. Your responses and the survey results will be confidential. Once the survey is closed, the information will be collected and the data will be used to formulate our opening proposals. Our opening proposal serves to put management on notice regarding the changes we are collectively seeking in our upcoming negotiations.
Mark your calendar and keep your eye out for the survey to arrive in your mailbox soon, then take the survey between January 20 and March 6, 2020.
Systemwide Listening Tour Begins January 20, 2020 – Ensuring Every Flight Attendant’s Voice is Heard!
Our Collective Bargaining Agreement is amendable as of August 28, 2021. There is much work to be done in preparation for these Negotiations and we are excited by the opportunity to negotiate our first Contract following our JCBA. We expect to begin negotiations in August of 2020.
Beginning January 20, 2020, our Negotiating Committee will be traveling to twenty-three cities to meet with Flight Attendants at each base/satellite to listen to you in order to obtain information on your bargaining priorities.
The schedule of the base/satellite visits has been sent to you by postcard with additional details available on our website and soon to be posted on your Local AFA bulletin board in the base. Keep in mind that you may attend any of these sessions at your base or any other base/satellite that is convenient for you to attend.

Wear the Official AFA White Pin
Our Union pin is not only a symbol of solidarity, but of our collective strength. While all the various ways we show strength and unity are important, wearing our AFA pin shows everyone, in the simplest and most direct way that we stand together as one group of Flight Attendants. Our power lies in our solidarity as a unified group of Flight Attendant having common interests and priorities.
On January 20, 2020 our Negotiating Committee will begin the Contract 2021 Listening Tour, moving us closer to early opener in August 2020. Get involved and make a commitment to wear our official white AFA pin every time you go to work or attend training. This is the most powerful way we can demonstrate our commitment to each other and promote our unity as we stand strong together in support of our Contract 2021 Negotiations.
White AFA pins are available in your Local Council office in the event you need a replacement. Contract 2021 – Get Behind your Pin!
